(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 05 - From March 2017 to today, the M'aMa-Dalla Parte dei Bambini association - created to promote the culture of foster care and adoption - on a mandate from social services and courts of the entire national territory has placed foster/adoptive families 180 minors with special needs.

Only 5% of these were same-sex couples, and only 15% were singles.

M'aMa has a national database of 5,000 foster families of which 25% are made up of same-sex couples and singles, a target that is not used by the organizations that have minors in charge.

"At this point we ask the Institutions, in respect of those minors who write to the Judge about wanting to celebrate their 18th birthday in the "normality of a home" and not in a community, to take note of the different existing family forms (homosexual and single-parent) to guarantee every child has the right to grow up in the right family for him.

The family structure has nothing to do with parenting. It is true, the child needs to refer to the paternal and maternal roles but it is not said that these necessarily identify with the male and female," say the promoters of the 'Matte Moms' network.

For this reason M'ama invites 'mad families' in homosexual couples or singles to join the Facebook group single, gay and foster-let's trust the MammeMatte network as a virtual and protected space for operational confrontation.
