The Peitinger market town council is to decide tomorrow, Tuesday, on how to proceed in relation to the controversial bridge over the Peitnach.

It will also be exciting with the planned asylum accommodation.

Peiting – The Peiting municipal council actually only wanted to make a decision on the controversial Peitnach Bridge at the beginning of next year.

At least that's what it was said recently when the results of the Bachfeld survey were presented.

But now the next meeting on Tuesday should already be discussed.

As the reason for the change of heart, Peiting's mayor, Peter Ostenrieder, refers to the result of the mobility behavior analysis that the commissioned transport office presented at the recent meeting of the committee.

It was clearly expressed that the residents of the Bachfeld "do not want such a bridge".

At the same time, however, the study also held out the prospect of a large savings potential of 1,000 car kilometers per day and a relief of around ten percent on Meierstrasse if the connection were to be built.

Proponents and critics in the municipal council should have felt equally confirmed.

Because even before the survey, only a wafer-thin majority was able to gain something positive from the bridge project (we reported), the head of the town hall now wants to reassure himself whether the view at the time is still the same.

The committee is to decide on Tuesday whether to spend more money, for example on a noise report or the determination of construction costs - with the corresponding consequences.

"If a majority in the municipal council no longer wants to pursue the issue at this point in time, we'd rather stop it immediately than after renewed expenditure of time and money," says Ostenrieder.

Otherwise, once all the facts are available, a final decision will be made in the coming year, but no later than 2024, whether the bridge should be built.

Asylum accommodation is also an issue

But not only because of the controversial Peitnach Bridge, the next meeting of the municipal council promises to be an exciting affair.

As already announced, the committee will deal with the citizens' application for the planned asylum accommodation on Seestraße.

In addition, the development plan for the planned five-storey residential complex on Schongauer Straße is on the agenda, which is quite controversial in the market town due to its height and has already caused heated debates in the committee.

Because the Peiting town hall is expecting a great deal of interest from the citizens in the meeting due to the explosive issues, it will take place this time in the Schloßberghalle, like the last one.

It starts next Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Before that, the Peitingen building committee will meet at 6:15 p.m.
