The Russian authorities evacuated a residential building in the Russian city of Yaroslavl, following a domestic gas explosion in one of the apartments.
“The explosion occurred inside an apartment on the top floor of the three-storey building, damaging the roof of the apartment and the balcony, and causing a fire in the place,” Tass news agency quoted the city government’s press service as saying today, while rescuers evacuated 44 people, including three children, from the building.
The press service pointed out that 19 residents of the building whose homes were damaged were transferred to a temporary shelter.
The city's mayor, Artyom Molchanov, confirmed that there is no one under the rubble, that the fire has been extinguished, and the specialists of the Ministry of Emergencies are dealing with its repercussions.
