The President of the United Arab Emirates arrived in Qatar on Monday (December 5th), for his first visit to the country since the diplomatic quarrel between the small gas Emirate and its Gulf neighbors, according to official media.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed was greeted upon his arrival by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and talks are expected to focus on "
areas of common interest and the strengthening of bilateral relations
", the official said. Emirati agency WAM.
The visit of the Emirati president to Qatar, in the midst of the Football World Cup, is the first since the restoration in 2021 of diplomatic relations between the two countries after four years of rupture.

The emir of Qatar had traveled to Abu Dhabi last May to offer his condolences after the death of Khalifa bin Zayed, predecessor and half-brother of Mohammed bin Zayed.
In 2017, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt cut ties with Doha, accusing it of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and getting closer to Iran - accusations denied by Qatar.
The diplomatic and economic blockade was lifted in January 2021.
