(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 05 - Thirty years later, the film from the "Memories" series tells the story of the eight police officers who died together with Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino and Francesca Morvillo in the mafia attacks of 1992 and will be presented in preview today at 18.00 at the ANICA cinema hall in Rome.

Before the screening, the President of the Republic will receive the Chief of Police - Director General of Public Security Prefect Lamberto Giannini and the families of the victims of the massacres at the Quirinale.

«I was trapped, I can't get out of this story» thus begins the film Memories "THE BOYS OF STOCKS", co-produced by the Ministry of the Interior - Public Security Department and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - Mission Structure for National Anniversaries with 42°Parallel.

The voice is that of Rosaria Costa, widow of State Police officer Vito Schifani who died in Capaci, and summarizes the feeling of an entire country in a profound and intimate way.

The sense of guilt that forcefully brings us back to those days, in Capaci, in via D'Amelio the broken lives of Antonio Montinaro, Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo, Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo Li Muli, Claudio Traina, Eddie Walter Cosina and Emanuela Loi, the eight policemen who were part of the escort of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino.

Together with Rosaria Costa in the film the testimony of the deputy superintendent of the State Police Salvatore Lopresti, a member of the escort department of the Palermo Police Headquarters, who tells how the personal wound for the loss of eight colleagues is in fact also a bigger wound, which affects all Italians.

«For 27 years I have not been able to return to via D'Amelio - Lopresti recounts in the film - because that stench of dust mixed with TNT and burnt meat always came back on me.

Every now and then that smell still resurfaces, now 30 years have passed, I believe in the institutions and I hope that sooner or later we can tell the whole truth and that that truth will finally make that smell of TNT and burnt meat disappear».

«Horrors - continues Rosaria Costa in the film - are not used to scare us, but must serve to create memory, to understand that eight policemen, eight young boys died for us, for all of Italy.

At the time of the attack I was only 22 years old, after thirty years I no longer see Vito as a husband but as a son, I feel like the mother of a son who has not received justice and this hurts even more ».

"The boys of the escorts" was made to celebrate the conclusion of the thirtieth anniversary of the massacres of Capaci and via D'Amelio, a film that points the lighthouse of memory also on those who, precisely by virtue of his function as escort and protection agent, often stayed away from the spotlight.

The film was written by Giorgia Furlan, Alessia Arcolaci and Josella Porto, directed by Gabriele Ciances, photography by Claudio Cascavilla with the supervision of Daniele Ciprì.
