The Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, confirmed that the new optical cable between the governorates of Aleppo and Hama on the western track, which was put into experimental service several days ago, is now stable, and the communications traffic through it is proceeding well.
Minister Al-Khatib explained in a statement to SANA that the ministry was able, during the current year, to restore the old track between Aleppo and Hama, which was destroyed by terrorists, by implementing a new optical cable on the international highway between Hama and Aleppo, with a distance of approximately 150 kilometers, with equipment installed on both ends of the cable. of the latest technology.
Al-Khatib pointed out that the city of Aleppo now has two independent optical cables, with two different paths, and therefore if one of them is damaged, the second will be a substitute for it, and this gives stability to communications and the Internet in the city, indicating that the new optical cable will also feed all telephone centers in Idlib governorate, including Khan Sheikhoun and Maarat al-Numan. .
