Unsecured windows and doors make it easy for burglars.

Because Moosinning's lamps stay out at night: the municipality organizes an information event with Kripo Erding on the subject: How do I protect myself from burglars?

Moosinning - At night there are no more lamps in Moosinning, energy must be saved.

Residents expressed concern that this could encourage burglaries.

There have already been warnings about this within WhatsApp groups.

So far, however, one has been spared, emphasized Mayor Georg Nagler at an event organized by the community.

Chief Inspector Walter Schollerer was invited to speak at the information evening “Break-in – can I protect myself against it?” by the criminal police advice center at Kripo Erding.

Even if there wasn't much interest - there were just four other guests in addition to the mayor - an informative evening developed in the hall of the Oberwirt.

When it came to switching off the lights, Schollerer emphasized at the beginning that very few crimes are committed at night: "The burglars usually work at dusk or during the day." Then they could be sure that the occupants of the property were not at home.

How can burglaries be prevented or at least made more difficult?

Schollerer had a few tips ready that evening: The easiest way would be to integrate measures in a new building: "It would be great if people came to us before they hire the specialist companies." Optimizing the building: "Retrofitting is of course also possible, but this involves higher costs," emphasized Schollerer.

However, the sum would still be “ridiculous” compared to the damage caused by a burglary.

Simple procedures would be free of charge: locking the front door completely, leaving the lights on in the house or informing the neighbors if you will not be at home for a long time.

Walter Schollerer warned against posts on social networks that show potential burglars that you are on vacation.

People should also sensitize relatives: "It has happened before that a granddaughter wrote that she was in Italy with her grandmother for three weeks.

Then it was broken into.”

What the burglar has least time is time: “He wants to get in the house quickly and get out again quickly.” Normal windows, for example, can be broken open in just a few seconds, but mechanical upgrades significantly increase the time.

The statistics for 2020 showed that more than 50 percent of burglary attempts would have failed because of good mechanics in windows and doors, emphasized the chief inspector.

There are different security levels for the measures, for the windows and doors on the ground floor there is a need for higher quality protection than for windows on the second floor.

Schollerer had various examples ready that evening of the possibilities there are in detail.

Schollerer had the tip for everyone who was not on site at this event to collect information on the website www.k-einbruch.de.

Despite the low response, Mayor Nagler was happy about Schollerer's visit and emphasized: "Perhaps we can intensify contact and get together again on a larger scale."
