More than 2000 visitors came to the forest Christmas market in Jetzendorf.

There was a new attraction there.

Jetzendorf – Well over 2000 visitors came to the two-day forest Christmas market in Jetzendorf.

The glow of lights between the trees had a special magnetic effect on visitors from near and far.

Especially in the twilight and in the evening hours there was a lot going on - between the many sales huts it was hardly possible to get through.

The Christmas event on the grounds of the Jetzendorfer Kletterpark was opened by the firecrackers of the Jetzendorfer Germania-Schützen, whose shots echoed far across the Ilmtal.

Commander of the Böllerschützen is the eponymous father of Jetzendorf's mayor, Manfred Betzin, who gave his group the signals for a double strike, rapid line fire and finally a double salute with a saber.

This year, for the first time, the supporting program included a children's tent, in which members of the Jetzendorf local branch of the Greens read Christmas stories to children of different ages.

Here, eleven Ukrainian refugee children experienced Christmas stories in their mother tongue.

The Ukrainians Olena, Iryna and Maryna were also represented with a sales stand.

Due to the cancellation of another stand applicant, they came to the Christmas market at short notice with cake specialties from their homeland.

The "Ukrainian duet" with a lot of spice was particularly well received among their culinary specialties.

The three Ukrainian mothers will donate the proceeds from the sale to a field hospital in Irpin.

A highlight for the children was the living nativity scene with two ewes and two lambs to pet.

Nine associations from the community were mainly represented with culinary delicacies in the 21 sales stands.

Hungarian goulash soup was a hit at the Hirschenhausen fire brigade, and their colleagues from Jetzendorf spoiled with steak rolls.

The Jetzendorf children's fire brigade offered Christmas handicrafts on a donation basis.

There were gyros at the Jetzendorfer Trachtlern, Schupfnudeln with cabbage at the Germania-Schützen, and the Wildschützen spoiled their regular customers at the bratwurst stand.

Mulled wine and punch were available at almost every food stall, and the Wenger family, who managed the castle in Jetzendorf, had prepared fine venison goulash.

The tennis club offered seats and various drinks.

Despite the large selection of food and drink, the market also offered many handicrafts from private suppliers.

This ranged from unique jewelry, beeswax candles, turned clocks, self-sewn children's clothing and Christmas gifts in a wide variety of shapes and colors.
