Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil (SPD) has commented on the increase in pensions.

In 2023, pensioners could look forward to more money.

Frankfurt – Energy and food prices are rising – everyday life in Germany is becoming more expensive for many people.

Many pensioners, whose money is barely enough to live on, are particularly affected.

But they can also look forward to an increase in the coming year.

After the pension was only increased in July 2022, around 21 million pensioners will also benefit from a further adjustment in 2023.

This was confirmed by SPD Labor Minister Hubertus Heil in an interview with

Bild am Sonntag

.

"According to the data now available, pensioners can again expect a noticeable increase in pensions in the summer," said Heil.

Increase in pension 2023: This is how it could be raised

According to an official estimate, the statutory pension will increase by around 3.5 percent in western Germany and by a good 4.2 percent in eastern Germany in July.

This emerges from the draft of the pension insurance report 2022.

"The level of the 2023 pension adjustment is expected to be determined by the federal government in March 2023," Katja Braubach, a spokeswoman for the German Pension Insurance Association, told

from

IPPEN.MEDIA.

The possible increase in 2023 means an increase of around 35 euros in the west and 42 euros in the east for a pension of 1000 euros.

According to the report, pensions are expected to rise by a total of almost 43 percent by 2036.

This corresponds to an average growth rate of 2.6 percent per year.

The estimate for 2023 is still below the level of the increase from which pensioners benefited in July 2022.

In the west, pensions rose by 5.35 percent in the summer and by 6.12 percent in the east.

Increase in pension 2023: The exact plans have not yet been published

According to the provisional calculation, the contribution rate to the statutory pension insurance system should remain at the current value of 18.6 percent until 2026.

Minister Heil said that, contrary to many forecasts, it was possible to keep the contribution rate stable for longer than expected.

In the current cost crisis, it is good news "that working people can rely on the contribution rate not increasing." However, there will be further pension changes in 2023, especially for people who pay into the pension insurance system.

According to the current plans, the 2022 pension insurance report is to be decided by the cabinet on November 30th.

The Bundestag and Bundesrat will then deal with the data.
