Normally, Porsche 911s are moved less.

A turbo from the USA has over a million kilometers on the clock - and that with the original engine.

For the vast majority of people, the car is probably just a commodity they use to go to work or go shopping.

The mileage is correspondingly high.

A Toyota Tacoma is said to have completed over 2.4 kilometers since 2008.

And high mileages can also be achieved with electric cars.

This is rarely the case with sports cars, but they do exist.

A Ferrari Enzo in the USA has almost 150,000 kilometers on the clock.

The driver of a Porsche 911 Turbo can only laugh tiredly at that.

The man has already covered more than a million kilometers with the classic from Zuffenhausen.

As if that wasn't special enough, the sports car is still on the move with the original six-cylinder boxer engine in the rear.

And the Porsche 911 Turbo has not changed hands either.

The silver speedster is driven both in everyday life and on track days on the race track.

Porsche 911 manages over a million kilometers: "It's crazy"

Eric Kaul, a friend of owner Tom Thalmann, has been reporting regularly on the Apex Automotor Facebook group since November 2018 on how the mile-eater is doing.

When the American published his post five years ago, the Porsche 911 Turbo already had the equivalent of 930,416 kilometers (578,134 miles) under its belt.

Since 2020, Kaul has been adding the current number of kilometers and miles to his post every year in November.

There was only a separate post in 2019, as the sports car had just passed the one million kilometer mark.

Since then, the odometer has stood at 999,999 kilometers.

But Tom keeps a record of his journeys.

Porsche 911 manages over a million kilometers: engine still in good condition

A year later it was already 1,038,574 kilometers (645,340 miles).

In 2021 the mileage was 1,061,686 (659,701 miles).

According to the last update from November 21, 2022, there are currently 1,089,291 kilometers (676,854 miles) on the books.

But Tom has not lost the fun of his Porsche 911 Turbo, but has driven less because of the corona pandemic.

Technically, the sports car is still in excellent shape.

According to Kaul, the engine was removed and serviced after around 616,000 kilometers (383,000 miles).

However, the planned revision was not necessary at all.

“There were maybe two bearings with very light wear, the rest of the engine was immaculate, it wasn't what we expected but we were delighted to find it!

These engines are well built and well designed.

Every valve was examined under a microscope and corresponded to the factory specifications in every dimension, we couldn't believe it," reports Kaul on Facebook.

But he and Tom aren't the only ones impressed by the condition of the long-distance runner from Stuttgart.

The other members of the group are also enthusiastic:

  • "Is that awesome!"

  • "I bet that has an interesting maintenance history."

  • "Absolutely possible.

    These cars can do it.”

  • "I wonder what it's worth now.

Less because of the mileage or more because it was well documented?”

  • "I'm glad this car is still alive and working!"

  • "Porsche cars are actually very reliable!"
