Retired Chief Justice: "Readings of the Chief Rabbi - the words of Bala" | Israel today

2022-12-05T14:45:23.754Z

Rabbi Yosef called for the impeachment of Uri Shoham, the commissioner for the review of the judges, and claimed that he was taking revenge on him and treated him on a racial basis. "

Mr. Judge:

Several times in recent years Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef violated the rules of ethics applicable to judges and judges and received decisions against him from the Commissioner for Auditing Judges while calling to consider impeaching the rabbi.

In the words he delivered at the end, the chief rabbi spoke out against the audit commissioner, Judge Uri Shoham, who is responsible for, among other things, also criticizing the Sephardi chief rabbi by virtue of being a dayan.

The chief rabbi called to "kick him out, impeach him" and also said that his answers to the commissioner's inquiries were "he answered as foolish as his folly".

The rabbi also said that the judge they "wrote reports against me, did something happen to me? Nothing happened to me" and accused him of taking revenge on him because of his father and discriminating against him compared to Rabbi Leo Ashkenazi because he is Mizrahi.

Boom Boom Boom

Maran the first to commemorate the Gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef tonight calls on the ultra-Orthodox MKs to oust and throw (as he put it) the Commissioner of Acceptance over the judges and judges Judge Uri Shoham.

Accusing him of acting against him only as revenge for what his father Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef zt'al said.

Calls on the judges not to fear him.

Regrets that he even responded to him.

"Desperate attempt to terrorize"

Representatives of the Audit Commissioner told Israel Hayom that "there is no place for the Commissioner to comment on this matter, since the Commissioner performs his duties according to law, without fear and without bias. The Chief Rabbi's call for the removal of the Commissioner is tantamount to a desperate attempt to impose on the Commissioner terror and fear and to prevent him from performing his duties according to his best professional judgment and his responsibilities according to law. We would also add that before us is an absurdity in the form of an audited entity seeking to depose the entity authorized by law to audit him, and this must not be allowed."

Regarding the claim that Commissioner Shame is taking revenge on Rabbi Yosef because of his father: "In response to the chief rabbi's blasphemy, we would like to clarify that Commissioner Uri Shame has never dealt with the case of the chief rabbi's father, the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef - neither in the Supreme Court nor in general.

It is therefore not clear to the commissioner on what basis the words were said in this context by the chief rabbi.

The commissioner strongly rejects Rabbi Yosef's claims that it discriminates against him on sectarian grounds and responds that "in response to the chief rabbi's claim that he is allegedly discriminated against, compared to the Ashkenazi chief rabbi Rabbi Lau, after all Rabbi Lau, as president of the Great Rabbinical Court, is granted powers And responsibility for all the judges in the rabbinical courts, being the president of the system, such as the role and powers of the president of the Supreme Court.

In contrast to Rabbi Lau, Rabbi Yosef does not serve as the president of the rabbinical court system.

Hence the difference between the role and status of Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef as a judge compared to the one who serves as the president of the system - Rabbi Lau.

The commissioner, who was born in Iraq himself, has no intention of commenting on the other blasphemy of the chief rabbi, especially the sectarian hints, and he rejects them with disgust."

As mentioned, the Commissioner Shaham previously made a number of decisions against Rabbi Yosef Kadayin's violations of ethics.

They explain that "all of the commissioner's decisions regarding the chief rabbi are substantive decisions based on material that was presented to him during the investigation of the complaints submitted to the commissioner about the chief rabbi.

"The main criticism of the commissioner in the decisions he gave in those complaints concerned the fact that the chief rabbi is not educated to understand the fact that, in addition to his role as chief rabbi, he also serves as a judge in the Great Rabbinical Court. In doing so, the rules of ethics for judges that were established by the president of the Great Rabbinical Court at the time - Rabbi Shlomo Amar with the consent of a member of the judges of the Great Rabbinical Court and after consultation with the Minister of Justice.
