Satellite images from Planet Labs also showed an increase in the number of bombers, as well as aircraft, this past weekend compared to earlier this month.

In total, 31 aircraft, including 20 Tu-95MS bombers and six Tu-160s, were seen in the 29 November footage compared to only 16 in the 15 November footage.

Engels is the most important air force base in western Russia, and is home to two regiments (a unit usually consisting of battalions or companies) of bombers.
