A scooter rider attacked a car driver wearing a helmet on the road in Bnei Brak this evening (Monday) and fled the scene - according to the police's suspicions.

Witnesses to the violent incident, which happened on Habanim Street in Bnei Brak, called the police.

The policemen arrived at the scene, began searches and located the suspect, a 29-year-old man from Bnei Brak, who was arrested for questioning at a station in the city.

The victim - a 20-year-old man, a resident of Jerusalem.



In the last two years there has been a 20% increase in the cases of violence on the roads.

According to police data, in 2020, 1,112 investigative cases were opened on suspicion of physical violence on roads throughout the country, in 2021, 1,234 cases were opened, and in the last year that has not yet ended - 1,367 cases.

During the years 2020-2022, about a thousand suspects were arrested on suspicion of violent offenses on the roads.

A survey by the "Green Green" association, published at the beginning of the month, showed that one out of every two Israelis reported encountering a fight on the road.

The survey, which was designed to examine the proportion of people reporting various phenomena of anger and aggression on the part of drivers in Israel, also showed that 79% of Israelis reported that they had encountered verbal violence and threatening movements at least once in the past year.



When the survey respondents were asked what in their opinion is the best solution to the problem of road violence, 33% of them claimed that increasing police enforcement is the right way to solve it;

30% claimed that the solution is education, 28% claimed that the punishment was made worse, and 9% claimed that information was provided.
