The Magistrate's Court in Tel Aviv ruled today (Monday) in favor of the members of the Rafali family in the lawsuit they filed against Avidan Gov who did not pay them rent and defamed them.
The judge ordered him to pay them compensation in the amount of NIS 300,000 for defamation, violation of privacy and negligence, this after Gov and his attorney did not show up for the evidence hearing.
The judge also ordered him to apologize to them within a month.
Gov, who posed as a diamond businessman, rented an apartment from family members and defaulted on the payments.
After members of the Raffaelli family demanded that he pay, he went on a smear campaign against them, hanging defamatory flyers in their neighborhoods and sending them disturbing messages.
The verdict in favor of the Rafali family was given as part of the defamation lawsuit that was filed about two years ago by family members the father Rafi and his sons Dor and On.
At the center of the lawsuit was the claim that Gov spread slander about the family through "false and malicious defamatory publications".
