The heavyweight had ended its mad dash on a grassy slope of the road, in the Epluches business area, in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône (Val-d'Oise), the left front tire completely destroyed by the shots by police and gendarmes.

The alleged 39-year-old driver, who had tried everything to evade the police, was brought to the Pontoise court on Sunday, after 48 hours in police custody.

“He was indicted by the examining magistrate on the counts of attempted homicide on a person holding public authority, refusal to comply directly exposing an agent (…) to a risk of death or permanent infirmity, injuries involuntary with incapacity not exceeding three months per driver (…) having used narcotics”, details the parquet floor of Pontoise.

Placed in pre-trial detention

The toxicological analyzes carried out on this Algerian national, in a regular situation and holder of a valid driving licence, showed that he had consumed cocaine at the time of the events.

The Pontoise public prosecutor's office further specifies that the 30-year-old "was the subject of temporary detention by the judge of freedoms and detention".

It all started on Friday December 2, 2022, around 8:30 a.m., in Méry-sur-Oise.

The white truck stamped "#wearexpo" runs a red light and hits several cars, before fleeing.

It was at this moment that the gendarmes of the surveillance and intervention platoon chased him and ordered him to stop.

But the fugitive refuses to comply, takes a portion of the RN184 in the opposite direction, hits several more vehicles, forces a police roadblock, fortunately without causing any injuries.

Faced with this very dangerous behavior, the police had to use their weapons.

No less than 35 shots were fired to stop the crazy truck.

A second investigation, entrusted to the research section of Versailles (Yvelines), has also been opened to shed light on these shootings.
