On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Directorate of Education in Aleppo held several activities for children with disabilities in a number of schools, including singing and artistic activities, competitions, games, a poetry debate and a theatrical performance.
In a statement to SANA correspondent, the Director of Education in Aleppo, Eng. Mustafa Abdel-Ghani, indicated that the Directorate is keen to provide support for students with disabilities, integrate them with their peers in schools, provide care for them, and advance their abilities and talents, so that they become active members of society.
The head of the research department in the directorate, Huda Al-Hassan, explained that the number of inclusive schools in Aleppo and its countryside is 54 schools, which include more than 500 students with various disabilities, pointing to the importance of spreading the culture of inclusion in society, and establishing these activities to shed light on this group, give the necessary support, and work to raise level of their abilities and talents.
The teacher of the resource room at Saleh Al-Ali School in the Ashrafieh neighborhood, Fadia Al-Khalaf, indicated that students with disabilities were trained on technical paragraphs to be presented during the celebration.
