According to Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst, the consequences of the Rahmede bridge closure on the central A45 in Lüdenscheid are an "imposition" for the region.

Although everyone involved was working flat out on a new building, it was taking "objectively far too long," said the CDU politician after discussions with those affected and business representatives on Monday.

Lüdenscheid - Scheduling must be accelerated, he emphasized in Lüdenscheid.

Residents, commuters, nursing services or high-tech companies reported impressively about their massive burdens.

The dilapidated Rahmede motorway bridge on Germany's important north-south axis (Frankfurt-Dortmund) near Lüdenscheid has been completely closed for a year.

Around 20,000 additional vehicles, including around 6,000 trucks, thunder through detour routes in the Sauerland town every day.

Residents and companies in the region are heavily burdened by noise, exhaust fumes and constant traffic jams, but they are also hit hard by delivery problems, slumps in sales and the exodus of workers.

Wüst criticized the fact that the federal government had not proposed any substantial legal changes to speed up the planning process for such large-scale projects.

The important topic was therefore removed from the agenda of the Prime Ministers' Conference this Thursday, said the MPK Vice-Chairman.
