The rest area at the Roßlaich Bridge is heavily frequented, especially on weekends.

In addition to hikers, visitors to the columned hall "Stoa 169" in particular park their vehicles there.

Polling - The car park at the Roßlaichbrücke near Polling serves many hikers and recreational athletes as a starting point for their tours along the Ammer.

Since the opening of the "Stoa 169", however, numerous columned hall visitors have also used the rest area - which caused chaotic conditions, especially in the early months.

In the course of this, the idea of enlarging the parking lot was briefly considered.

But that failed due to nature conservation requirements.

Pedestrians continue to cross the main road

With the opening of the "Stoa" car park for hikers at the western end of Bahnhofstrasse, the situation has eased somewhat.

But there are still problems at the Roßlaichbrücke - not only with the "parking search traffic", as was determined at a traffic show with representatives of authorities and the municipality of Polling.

“Buses park it in such a way that the rear partly protrudes into the B 472, which is a safety problem.

The access to the Berghof is also blocked by parked vehicles - and there is also parking along the main road," says a record of the traffic show that was presented at the most recent meeting of the Pollinger municipal council.

Another problem: The existing signage to guide pedestrians and "Stoa" visitors through the bridge underpasses to the other side of the street is apparently ignored.

"Pedestrians crossing the main road were not significantly reduced," the report says.

At the traffic show, the Weilheim State Building Authority suggested closing the rest area - just like the small parking bay at the eastern end of the bridge.

There, too, "Stoa" visitors in particular were happy to park their vehicles.

But merging into the traffic from the short lay-by seemed too dangerous to the road construction authorities.

There will be no speed limit for the time being

The situation at the large rest area is assessed in a similar way.

"If it's up to us," confirms Andreas Lenker, head of department at the state building authority, when asked, "then it could be closed immediately." The rest area would only cause maintenance costs.

In principle, the state building authority is only obliged to provide such spaces on motorways: "We as the authority do not need parking spaces on federal roads," said Lenker.

As an authority, we do not need parking spaces on federal roads.

But the protocol for the traffic show says that the state building authority will "not actively promote" a closure - and that is probably also due to the wish of the Polling community: "We want the rest area to remain," emphasizes Mayor Martin Pape (CSU). .

This is not surprising: the additional parking space at the Roßlaichbrücke provides relief at the "Stoa" hiking car park - especially since the latter can only be approached by buses via the Polling-Oderding municipal road, but not via the Bahnhofstrasse.

The closure of the rest area at the Roßlaichbrücke, according to Pape, was "just a consideration" that was presented by officials in the context of the traffic show - nothing more.

But how else are you going to get the traffic problems on the Roßlaichbrücke under control?

For the time being, there should not be a permanent speed limit on both sides on the federal highway.

For this purpose, according to the minutes, the special purpose association “Municipal Services Oberland” will “specifically control” the access road to the Berghof in the future.
