"She makes my ears bleed": the commentator caught fire - and responded - voila! FIFA World Cup

Ani Aluko, former England player, made two mistakes live on the British ITV network. Some of the viewers were angry, and she hastened to answer: "Enthusiastic about my mistakes"

Fortunately, more and more female soccer commentators are appearing on the screens - both in Israel and around the world.

Ani Aluko, for example, made history when she put together the first women's panel in the history of the British broadcaster ITV along with Karen Carney and Sima Jaswal, but last night (Monday) she hit the headlines under slightly less flattering circumstances.

Nigeria-born Aluko, who has made 102 appearances for England, joined the panel to discuss Brazil's 4-1 win over South Korea, and complimented Richarlison.

"He had a big impact," she said.

"He is Brazil's top scorer in the last two years. He has an excellent record, 19 goals in 40 appearances. Do the math yourself - that's more or less a goal every game."

Needless to say, it's not really a goal every game, more like a goal every two games.

"She makes my ears bleed," tweeted journalist Danny Armstrong, and several other surfers joined in with their own criticism - sometimes sexist.

Earlier this week, Aluko already angered some viewers in Great Britain, when she claimed that Jimmy Greaves is the fourth striker in the team's history, because he scored a hat trick in the World Cup final (this is, of course, Jeff Hurst).

Aluko tried to take the comments with humor.

"I have a bachelor's degree in law, 102 appearances for the national team and a doctorate, but mathematics has never been my strong field," she tweeted.

In response to one of the surfers, who claimed that she should only commentate games in the USA, with fewer viewers, she wrote: "If you weren't so busy getting excited about my mistakes, you would have heard that I also mentioned Jeff Hurst.

I've been doing it for a long time, nobody's perfect."
