The Criminal Security Center in the Salamiyah district of Hama governorate arrested four people on charges of promoting and distributing counterfeit foreign currency.
The Ministry of the Interior stated in a statement, a copy of which SANA received, that as a result of the continuous search and follow-up on those dealing in non-Syrian pounds and their promoters, the Security Center in Salamiyah was able to arrest four people who professionally promoted and exchanged counterfeit dollars and dealt with them, and they seized 27 coins of the 100 denomination. counterfeit dollars.
The ministry added that the arrested confessed, during interrogation, to promoting and exchanging counterfeit currency, by buying goods from shops and paying for them in this currency, exchanging these goods and selling them later at a price lower than the market price.
The Ministry confirmed that the necessary measures have been taken against the arrested, and investigations and searches are still ongoing to arrest all those involved in the case, and the arrested will be brought to the duly competent court.
