Bright lights in Schongau's old town: brightly shining stars and garlands and, of course, the stately Christmas tree invite you to take a stroll through the Christmas market on Marienplatz.

The stalls around the fountain tempt with various offers.

Schongau

- It is a fragrant mixture of mulled wine, roasted almonds and sausages that greets visitors in the evening.

The market is jam-packed after St. Nicholas' visit.

The carousel turns its rounds, accompanied by music like in the olden days from the organ grinder.

A first stroll past the stalls: an eye-catcher right in the first one.

Runa & Bernd are there for the first time with their “headstand”.

Funny name, funny and fancy hats for man & woman.

It doesn't matter whether it's a cloché for women or a flat cap for men, you can stroll through the market well protected after your purchase.

Guaranteed organic tanning

Martina is also in Schongau for the first time with her creations: her unusual magnetic jewelery is intended to give energy.

And maybe also that the loved one sticks with him for a long time.

In order to be prepared for the snuggly evenings, Corina also has sheepskins in abundance.

"Guaranteed organic tanning," says Corina.

As always, the attraction for the children is the nostalgia carousel, which makes its rounds with the right music.

Opposite the first hot challenge: Marlies offers the legendary Feuerzangenbowle.

Just like in the good old days in the film classic with Heinz Rühmann.

With a difference and a great idea.

"Our guests are allowed to bring their own drinking mugs and cutlery," says Marlies.

This saves energy on site and protects the environment.

The hut is on fire: what is meant is the "sweet hut" with a line of sweet tooths.

Roasted almonds and nuts, cotton candy and chocolate apples lure.

Full cheeks and nods

Mulled wine or Augustiner is then the big question.

You get closer sip by sip.

The stomach now wants it hearty, needs nourishment.

You're in the right place at the Alex & Mike stand.

Baked ham, the hot Feuerli and the ham sticks tempt at the sausage stand of the Boneberger butcher's shop.

When asked how it tastes, there are only full cheeks and nods.

This answer says more than a thousand words.

Tanner, the specialist for tree trunk rolls, finds few words.

At his booth also high drive.

"Eight minutes baking time, then almost unlimited enjoyment time," says the master of the rolls - whether served with walnuts or coconut, poppy seeds or almonds.

Tip: try everything

The wings of the large Christmas pyramid, which is simply part of it, cannot be overlooked.

Almost the landmark of the market.

Inside, two little angels do their rounds.

This means Melissa & Elke, who are very busy.

They offer mulled wine, Misch Masch and Nikolausi.

You like to linger, look for nice conversations and certainly don't avoid a little flirt.

Other offers lure you to which one can only give the advice to try them out for yourself.

You still have time until Sunday, December 11th.

But you can still treat yourself to one thing this evening: a visit to “Lini” and her stand for spirits is a must.

As a nightcap for the stomach.

Lini and her witch herb liqueur or her dragon fire are part of it.

Even on this evening when the temperatures are crisp like winter.

One place remains empty this year: Many visitors miss the stand that presented the finest craftsmanship at last year's Christmas market.

Reinhard Nowak, who was an insider tip with his extraordinary cribs and reliefs made of precious wood, is no longer there.

He carves and turns now at the very top of the firmament.

But always with an eye on the Schongau Christmas market.
