The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) is participating in the activities of the Arab Forum for Agriculture under the title (Arab Food Security in the Face of Challenges), which is held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
The Director General of ACSAD, Dr. Nasr El-Din Al-Obeid, emphasized in his speech the importance of the forum to discuss the procedures, policies, activities, and programs that must be worked on to achieve food security, pointing out that ACSAD participated during the forum with working papers on the impact of climate changes on surface and groundwater resources, and the procedures and steps taken by the center. Arab League to achieve food security in the region, through the development of wheat and barley varieties, water resources management and water harvesting in a way that achieves the goals of sustainable development, in addition to the development of pastures.
The forum, which lasts for three days, aims to discuss the most important issues of agriculture and farmers to enable the agricultural sector to achieve food security, and to come up with strategies and solutions to the problems of agricultural systems and develop them in line with the current challenges of food security.
Several ministries, agencies and bodies concerned with agriculture, water and food security are participating in the forum.
