Information published by local authorities indicates an increase in hate crimes in New York State, especially those defined as having an anti-Semitic background.
The authorities expressed concern over the numbers that indicate a 100% increase in cases in November compared to the same month last year.
The regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, Stoke Richman, responded to the alarming case that happened in Staten Island and said that "hate leads to hate. It appears in the media and by celebrities and influencers and it has an effect on society. Anti-Semitism is a virus that infects society. A society that can tolerate hate against Jews, can also tolerate hatred against other minorities."
