A week was quiet: on Monday, the climate activists returned to Munich.

They want to strengthen their resistance and expand their protests.

Update from December 5, 4:05 p.m

.: Seven climate activists tried again to stick to the road at Stachus.

As confirmed by the police headquarters, some of these are the people who were arrested in the morning.

After being prevented by the officers from seizing the Stachus again, they went back to the police headquarters.

Update from December 5, 1:03 p.m .:

As reported by the police, the impairments on the A96 and A9 motorways have been lifted.

Traffic is flowing again.

Update from December 5, 11:17 a.m .:

As the Munich police informed via Twitter, the blockade at the Stachus was resolved.

"The stuck people will be released," it says.

There is still a lot going on on the freeways.

According to the police, traffic on the A9 towards Munich is blocked from the Munich-Nord junction.

On the A96 it runs at reduced speed.

Update from December 5, 10:26 a.m .:

The group “Last Generation” now reports the protest actions on the motorways near Munich via Twitter: “Traffic on the A9 and A99 near Munich is currently stopped because people from the last generation climbed on gantries.” The activists share what the scenes on site show:

Update from December 5, 10:10 a.m .:

Two motorways around Munich are now also affected by the protest.

There are currently blockades on the A96 towards Munich near Graefelfing and on the A9 towards Munich near the Allianz Arena.

Here the police "found a person with a banner on a sign bridge," it said initially on Twitter.

Update from December 5, 9.47 a.m .:

The activists continue to stick to the street at Stachus.

As our local reporter reports, the campaign will probably last about an hour.

Lufthansa plane was on the way to Munich: chaos for 270 passengers after an emergency landing in Angola

First report from December 4th

Munich – Temperatures around freezing point and clouds: Monday morning in Munich will be gray and cold.

And still it could get hot.

The reason: The last generation has announced a major action at Stachus for 8 a.m. - in the middle of rush hour!

The police are preparing for a large-scale operation, but there are still many question marks.

For example, it is unclear whether Karlsplatz must be completely closed to traffic.

But either way, there is a risk of traffic jams.

That's why the Presidium advises on its social media channels: "Avoid the city center if possible." If you can, you should switch from the car to local public transport.

At a press conference on Friday, the climate activists set the route for the next few weeks.

That is: increase the resistance, expand the protests, hit even more "veins of society".

After a week's breather, it should also hit Munich again.

For the first time, the climate adhesives have now announced the time and place of their next campaign in advance: Monday, 8 a.m., taxi rank at Karlsplatz Ost.

This is where the showdown with the police takes place, who had taken the activists into custody again and again in recent weeks, i.e. put them behind bars in Stadelheim as a preventive measure.

Police are present in the city area

"We will be there at Stachus," says police spokesman Andreas Franken.

And he makes it clear: "The police will try to prevent crime." In concrete terms, this means that the activists should be prevented from taking over the streets around Karlsplatz, sticking to them and causing chaos in rush-hour traffic.

The Stachus should not be blocked in the run-up to the campaign, emphasized Franken.

He left it open with which contingent the police will deploy there.

There are many unanswered questions for the emergency services: They do not know how many activists will be there.

Or what exactly the climate protectors are planning.

It would also be conceivable that the Stachus is only pushed ahead and completely different streets are the target of the next climate attack.

Just so much from the police: “We will be present in the city area.”
