Car owners driving cars on the road must purchase third-party liability insurance (“three guarantees”) according to laws and regulations to compensate third-party casualties and losses caused by accidents.

At present, the "three guarantees" in the market generally also compensate third-party property damage. The insurance comparison platform 10Life searched 16 products from different online platforms in the market. On the basis of the same car model and driver's background, it was found that the premiums for the "three guarantees" in the market were originally high. The difference is 1.7 times, and the property self-pay is also a factor that car owners often ignore.

Tabulated by 10Life Research.

The prices of 16 automobile three guarantees in the market vary greatly

10Life Research Department compares the online quotes of 16 types of insurance in Hong Kong, and uses a popular Japanese family car as the quoted vehicle 1, and assumes that the insured driver is a 35-year-old clerk with 10 years of driving experience, no claims in the past 3 years, and no claims The discount is 60%, and there is no violation of traffic accident records in the past 5 years.

10Life found that under the above background, the “Three Guarantees” premium is the cheapest at RMB 1,050 and the most expensive at RMB 2,809, a difference of 167% in this comparison (see the table above for details).

In addition, 10Life found that the deductibles of different plans also vary significantly.

Take the property deductible of young drivers and inexperienced drivers as an example, the highest can reach 25,000 yuan, and the lowest 5,000 yuan, the difference between the two is 5 times.

It is worth noting that the property deductible can be calculated cumulatively.

Take the relatively cheap Well Link Insurance "Three Guarantees" as an example, assuming that a traffic accident occurs when the car is lent to others, and the amount of compensation involved reaches HK$100,000. The driver is under 25 years old and has less than 2 years of driving experience. It is not the named driver on the insurance policy, and the insured person's deductible amount can reach HK$63,000 when compensating the property loss of the third party alone.

The "Three Guarantees" of the same insurance company may also have different prices on different online platforms.

There are differences in different online platforms for the same car insurance

Not only are there differences in the premiums of the "Three Guarantees" of various insurance companies, but the prices of the "Three Guarantees" of the same insurance company on different online platforms may also vary to a certain extent.

The purchase of three guarantees in different places will also affect the follow-up of claims in the future.

If you apply for insurance directly from the insurance company, the insured person needs to contact the insurance company directly to process the claim. If you purchase through an online platform operated by an insurance brokerage company, the insurance brokerage company can generally assist in follow-up.

Low premiums do not necessarily mean high property deductibles

He Yingxiang, the co-founder of 10Life, said that he found that car owners are often not sensitive to the price and content of the "three guarantees" because the "three guarantees" are only one of the annual fixed expenses of the car. Casualties of the driver of one's own car and damage to one's own car are easily ignored.

If there is no comparison on different platforms and rash purchase of insurance, the car owner may not only have the opportunity to buy a more expensive three insurance, but may also have to pay high property deductibles in the event of an accident.

He continued that different insurance plans have different property deductibles for "young drivers", "inexperienced drivers" and "unnamed drivers".

Low insurance premiums do not necessarily mean high property deductibles, and high premiums do not necessarily mean low property deductibles. Car owners should compare carefully before purchasing insurance.

He Yingxiang reminded that prospective car owners should not only shop around, but also pay attention to the details of the terms and conditions before applying for insurance. For example, some plans have lower premiums but higher property deductibles. They should also pay attention to which items are included in the additional protection, and whether they will borrow vehicles Give young or new relatives and friends to drive, etc., so as not to lose the big in case of an accident.
