Erling's medical practices are complete again

The local supply of a community not only includes shopping facilities, it also includes basic medical care.

In the meantime, it was on shaky ground in Andechs after one of two practice locations practically collapsed.

Now both family doctor's practices are occupied again.

– The number of general practitioners in rural areas is falling nationwide.

Country doctors who are about to retire often do not find a successor.

In the recent past, Andechs with its 3750 inhabitants was also threatened.

There were always two practices in Erling.

Rolf Wels retired in 2014, there was initially no successor in Andechs for bureaucratic and financial reasons - until Dr.

Rike Berhalter found out about the search.

Now, together with two colleagues, she has opened a branch office in the old dairy building on Andechser Strasse, which has just been renovated.

“Now the need is met again.

We are very happy that both practices are now occupied again," says Mayor Georg Scheitz happily.

This fits into his vision of local supply, offering everything locally, enabling short distances and thus keeping the village alive.

According to Scheitz, it is only natural that a dentist will soon be moving into the new VR Bank building.

"Now we just need a physiotherapist."

Together with Dr.

Andreas Pohl had Dr.

Rike Berhalter 2014 the practice of Dr.

Peter Schleuter in Herrsching.

When she found out about the search for a successor in Erling, she offered to work in Erling three times a week.

Because there were no suitable rooms, the municipality made a room in the Erling house available to her.

That went well until Corona, then a consultation hour there was no longer possible.

Only home visits remained.

Since 2020, Dr.

Verena Herold on the Herrschinger group practice.

"We are both 60," says Rike Berhalter, speaking of herself and her partner Andreas Pohl.

Both worked at the Höhenried Clinic before 2014.

The family doctor's practice has grown on them.

For some time they have therefore been looking for reinforcements for Herrsching and thus a potential successor.

Because Herrsching also only has four general practices with a total of eight colleagues, “for 11,000 residents.

That keeps us busy.” Andreas Pohl and Rike Berhalter met Verena Herold during a training course.

The 43-year-old mother of two fit into the team and honestly says: "I wouldn't have done it alone." As a team and with impetus from Scheitz, the second practice was opened in Erling in October.

Erling is to be understood as a branch practice, which is initially only occupied by one of the doctors on three days.

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and Thursday afternoons.

From February it will also be open regularly on Fridays.

The Herrschinger practice on Bahnhofstrasse will remain open every weekday morning and three afternoons as before.

The special feature in Andechs: There is a separate room for occupational medical examinations with a hearing test, listening booth, eye test and visual field measurement.

In the long term, the Andechs practice will also be open daily.

"The coordination of two practices must be found slowly," says Rike Berhalter.

What the doctors would now be happy about are additional office hours.
