Unterallgäu - From the finances of the district and the district senior citizens' homes to the energy supply in Unterallgäu: The district committee of the district council has now dealt with various topics, the district office said in a press release.

Despite the sometimes significant decline in profits in the district senior citizens' homes in Bad Wörishofen and Babenhausen, the senior citizens' facilities in the district generated a surplus of around 409,000 euros in 2021 (2020: 579,000 euros).

According to Ara Gharakhanian, Head of Senior Facilities at the District Office, the three homes ended with a positive result for the fifth year in a row.

District Administrator Alex Eder spoke of an annual result for which one could be grateful.

"But we could position ourselves better for future investments," he said.

Because, as Gharakhanian explained, the houses have no or too few liquidity reserves to carry out necessary infrastructure measures such as the upcoming general renovation of the east wing in the St.

Martin in Türkheim to be able to lift.

A major problem is the lack of nurses.

Since there is a lack of staff, the homes cannot be fully occupied and are therefore becoming increasingly difficult to operate economically.

Unterallgäu district reduces debt

Despite many uncertainties, 2021 was a good financial year for the district of Unterallgäu.

District Administrator Alex Eder drew this conclusion after District Treasurer Sebastian Seefried presented the 2021 annual accounts.

According to this, the administrative budget closed with 159.35 million euros, the asset budget with 25.39 million euros.

The district continued to reduce its debt by four million euros.

These fell in the core budget to 6.28 million euros.

Per capita debt fell from 70 to 43 euros.

According to Seefried, this is a very low value, but this is also due to the fact that many secondary schools have been relocated to special-purpose associations, which have had their own debts since the general school renovations.

If the district's holdings in companies and special-purpose associations are included,

the total debt amounted to 35.84 million euros.

Added to the asset budget, i.e. used for investments, was 15.26 million euros in 2021.

After the chairman of the audit committee, district councilor Rudolf Jackel, had not expressed any concerns, the district committee recommended that the district council approve the annual financial statements of the homes and the annual accounts.

Help with energy supply

The district wants to enter into a dialogue on the subject of energy with the municipalities.

The aim is to clarify whether there is a need for an energy company or a so-called regional plant.

Such an institution could support the communities as "carers" in their own energy production and supply.

At the same time, the regional energy supply could be further expanded and the added value kept on site.

The parliamentary group of the Free Voters and the parliamentary group of SPD and FDP had submitted applications for the establishment of a “district energy company” or a “virtual municipal utility”.

Sandra ten Bulte, climate protection manager of the district, informed the district committee about an initial exchange on this.

Administration,

Inform faction members and representatives of other Allgäu districts about practical examples.

The next step is to seek talks with the Unterallgäu communities.

The Pro-Agriculture working group should continue its work, the district committee decided.

In addition to the district administrator and representatives of the district parliamentary groups, representatives of agricultural and forestry associations and organizations in the district are also members of the working group.

It was founded in 2021 at the request of the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group and develops ideas on how district politics and district administration can support agriculture in the Lower Allgäu.

After a positive interim assessment by District Administrator Alex Eder and at the request of the participants, the committee will now be established as a permanent institution.

Pschierer dismissed from the supervisory board of the Allgäu clinic association

After leaving the CSU, Franz Josef Pschierer is to be dismissed from the supervisory board of the Allgäu clinic association.

As his successor, CSU district councilor Rudolf Jackel is to be appointed to the committee as a representative of the district.

The district committee recommended this to the district council.

The CSU parliamentary group had submitted a corresponding application.
