Yifat Ovadia-Lusky made history today (Tuesday) when she was chosen to serve as the first woman to head the KKL-Junk since its founding. She will replace outgoing chairman Avraham Dovdevani.
Likud Global Chairman MK Danny Danon appointed Ovadia-Lusky to put pressure on Likud Chairman and prime minister-designate Binyamin Netanyahu. Danon is aware of Netanyahu's desire to keep the coveted position as an option within the framework of the division of cases in Likud and intends to use the appointment as a bargaining chip In exchange for the position of Speaker of the Knesset which he desires.
MK Miki Zohar, who has the right of veto as co-chairman of the Likud World, claimed that this was a unilateral move and petitioned the Likud court on the issue.
Also, Netanyahu's office asked Danon to delay the appointment after the government was sworn in, Danon refused.

She is the head of the department for Hebrew and Culture in the World Zionist Organization and previously served as the CEO of the World Likud for over four years and was the first woman in this position. Ovadia-Lusky also held various positions in the public sector.
Chairman of the elected KKL-Junk: "The decision of the members of the KKL-Junk Board of Directors today is historic and carries the same message.
As someone who has been working in the national institutions for over two decades, I am proud to have been chosen to lead an important Zionist enterprise like no other and am aware of the national responsibility placed on my shoulders."
