Four months after being seriously injured in a knife attack in the northern United States, British writer Salman Rushdie unveiled an excerpt from his next novel in The New Yorker magazine on Monday.
The prestigious newspaper of American cultural elites has posted on its site an extract entitled
“A Sackful of Seeds”
from Salman Rushie's 15th novel,
Victory City
, to be published at the beginning of February next by the publisher Penguin Random House.
The book tells the "
epic tale of a woman
" in the 14th century in what is now part of India, according to the publisher.
The
New Yorker
indicated that this first excerpt would be published in the magazine dated December 12 and released on newsstands this Monday.
