A 27-year-old Eritrean asylum seeker, suspected of having killed with a knife a 14-year-old schoolgirl attacked on the way to school in Germany, will be presented to justice on Tuesday, December 6, said the prosecution.
Taken to hospital shortly after the attack on Monday, the German teenager, of Turkish origin, succumbed to her injuries.
An investigation has been opened to shed light on the circumstances of the attack which took place in Illerkirchberg, a small town in southern Germany.

The Turkish ambassador to Germany, the interior minister of the regional state of Baden-Württemberg (south) and the mayor of Illerkirchberg are expected at 1:00 p.m. local time at the scene of the attack to pay tribute to the teenager , according to a press release from the regional Ministry of the Interior.
The asylum seeker is suspected of attacking the victim and another 13-year-old girl on Monday morning on their way to school.
The other teenager is seriously injured but her life is not in danger.
Arrested by the police in a home for asylum seekers located not far from the scene of the attack, the suspect, also injured, is currently in hospital, where he underwent an operation.
The suspect declined to comment.
It is not yet known if he injured himself or if a third party injured him, the spokesperson for the prosecution told AFP.

The judge must decide on Tuesday to place him in pre-trial detention or to have him admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

,” commented the German police in a press release, while calling on the population to avoid generalized suspicion towards all foreigners or asylum seekers.
