Iranian justice has charged nine people with "

corruption on earth

" for the assassination of a leading nuclear physicist, announced Tuesday December 6 Massoud Setayeshi, the spokesman for the judiciary.

They are accused of "

corruption on earth

" and "

cooperation with Israel

", crimes punishable by death, for the November 2020 assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, he said.

Iran accuses Israel of ordering the attack

"

Other charges have been brought against six other defendants

," he added, without specifying which ones.

Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who had faced US sanctions for his role in Iran's nuclear program, was killed near Tehran in an attack on his convoy.

Tehran prosecutor Ali Salehi announced that "

15 people were indicted

" in this case, according to the Tasnim news agency, without naming them.

Iran has accused Israel of having ordered the attack, perpetrated according to Tehran by means, among other things, of a machine gun controlled by satellite.

Israel has never reacted to these accusations.

In 2018, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented Fakhrizadeh as the director of a secret military nuclear program that Iran has always denied existed.
