Building a snowman and having a snowball fight will be possible almost everywhere in Germany in the next few days.

For the third Advent, it will also be white in the south.

Munich – Winter is slowly but surely moving in.

The first winter walks in the snow were already possible in some parts of Germany.

And this week also brings a lot of wintry potential.

We will have to deal with a winter snow cover twice.

The snow will spread in the north until Friday and by the third Sunday in Advent another blanket of snow will reach the south.

The outlook for the next few days is promising.

Weather: Snow spreads over Germany - white Advent

The first were able to stroll through the Christmas markets in the snow on the second Advent.

And it should be that time again on the coming Advent weekend.

"We have a strong risk of snowfall for southern Germany next weekend," meteorologist Jan Schenk told

A blanket of snow is expected to spread in the south by Sunday.

The north will already know by Thursday, as Schenk explained.

On St. Nicholas Day, a low pressure area ensures early winter weather.

In the higher low mountain ranges, the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of ice caused by fresh snow.

Meanwhile, the sun shines on the North Sea in the afternoon and evening and also manages to come out between Breisgau and Lake Constance.

The rest of the country will remain cloudy.

The maximum temperatures are between one and seven degrees.

At night, temperatures can drop to minus four degrees.

Winter Weather: Temperatures are falling and snow cover is expanding

Mostly cloudy on Wednesday.

As on Tuesday, the maximum values ​​are between one and seven degrees.

But at night it gets colder again, with temperatures down to minus six degrees.

In the north it can also rain, snow or a sleet shower.

It gets windy especially on the coasts and in the middle of the country.

It will remain gray on Thursday, but it can also rain or snow.

Temperatures reach five degrees during the day and can drop to minus five degrees at night.

Also Friday hardly differs from the last few days.

At temperatures between minus six and three degrees, snow showers can occur in the south, otherwise it will remain dry.

Saturday is similar to Friday.

In the night to Sunday the snowfall can spread in the south.

Winter weather in Germany: Up to -10 degrees possible

According to the DWD, it should become increasingly whiter in the south on the third Sunday of Advent.

The snow may also spread to the east center.

In the north and east it will remain mostly dry, isolated snow or sleet showers may occur.

All this at temperatures between three and minus six degrees.

A "Siberian cold peak" over Russia is responsible, among other things, for the cold days in mid-December.

The snowfall will continue into Monday, but may decrease as the day progresses.

It will be significantly colder at the beginning of the week.

The maximum values ​​are between minus three and plus three degrees, in higher low mountain ranges only minus five degrees are expected to be reached.

At night it can clear up and, if there is snow cover, it can even get cold to minus ten degrees.

“We have a certain risk that a lot of snow can fall in the south.

But we can't be 100 percent sure that it will really happen at the weekend," says Schenk.

As always with the weather, much is uncertain.

When asked if there will be a white Christmas this year, weather models have differing opinions.
