More and more pensioners are moving abroad.
But which country is the best to live in after retirement?
The five best retiree paradises at a glance.
Munich – More and more German pensioners are finding it difficult to make ends meet with their pensions.
According to the Federal Statistical Office, more than a quarter of German pensioners do not even have 1,000 euros per month at their disposal.
With this money you can live much better in many other countries.
Therefore, more and more retirees are considering emigrating.
Pension abroad: Which aspects have to be considered
But where should it go?
After all, it is not enough if life at the future place of residence is cheaper.
Good health care is particularly important in old age.
But daily life on site and the corresponding leisure activities are also important.
The US emigrant magazine
International Living
has therefore determined which country is best suited for retirees to emigrate based on ten different aspects.
The following aspects were included in the evaluation and received a score from zero to 100:
Reside
Services
Visa/Residence status
Connect/Entertainment
development
climate
healthcare
government
Opportunities/Opportunities
cost of living
Retirement: These countries are best suited for emigrating in retirement
The points collected divided by the number of categories result in a final score.
You can read about the top five countries here:
country | End Score |
---|---|
1.Panama | 86.1 |
2. Costa Rica | 85.1 |
3. Mexico | 83.8 |
4. Portugal | 83.3 |
5.Ecuador | 83.1 |
Portugal is the only European country in the top five.
So, although Portugal only ranks fourth, it could be a lot more attractive to Europeans than Panama or Costa Rica due to its proximity.
In addition, the data for visas and residence permits refer to Americans.
It is considerably easier for Germans to emigrate to the EU member state of Portugal.
For Americans, the hurdles are significantly greater.
If you consider this aspect, Portugal should probably gain a few more points in the ranking from an EU perspective.
Interested parties should also find out whether the pension payment in the desired country is also possible without any problems.
A consultation with the German pension insurance makes sense in any case before such a big step.
Because if you want to spend your retirement abroad, you have to take care of a few formalities beforehand.
