Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced that his country is seeking to establish a safe zone in the vicinity of the Zaporozhye station by the end of the year.
"We are continuing our efforts to implement the idea of the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, to establish a protected area at this station," Ryabkov said, according to RIA Novosti.
Ryabkov explained that, on a Russian initiative, the permanent presence of the agency's employees at the station was ensured, but the situation around it should not become subject to the fight-to-last-Ukrainian policy pursued by the Kyiv authorities.
