Albanian opposition leader Sali Berisha was physically attacked on his way to a rally he organized.
A man hit him in the face and slightly injured him, according to Albanian media.
In photos, Berisha can be seen with a black eye.
Berisha had called his supporters together on the sidelines of the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tirana to protest against the government of socialist Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The attacker was overpowered by bodyguards and handed over to the police, it said.
At a subsequent press conference, Berisha claimed that it was an informant for the criminal police.
This cannot be verified independently.
In 1992, 78-year-old Berisha was the first freely elected president after the fall of communism.
He was prime minister from 2005 to 2013.
He was also head of the conservative Democratic Party (PD) until 2013.
He resigned from the party leadership following an electoral defeat by Rama's Socialists.
He returned to the party leadership in May this year after ousting his successor and political pupil Lulzim Basha.
