The amount of wheat seed distributed by the General Organization for Seed Multiplication to agricultural banks and farmers in the governorates to implement the plan to plant the wheat crop for this season since the beginning of last month until now has reached 26 thousand tons of sifted and sterilized wheat seeds of both hard and soft types, and 1400 tons of barley seeds were also distributed Sifted and sterilized.
In a statement to SANA, the deputy director of the foundation, Hussein Haj Abdo, said that the amount of wheat seed available at the foundation exceeds 64 thousand tons, and its distribution continues through the foundation’s branches and agricultural banks in the governorates, indicating that the foundation is ready to secure the farmers’ needs of improved and sieved wheat seeds, and all the facilities from During sensory detection for those unable to submit agricultural regulation documents.
Regarding its plan for the next year, Hussein explained that the corporation contracted to produce 90,000 tons of wheat seed and 6,000 tons of barley seed.
Regarding the Foundation's plan to produce potato seeds, Hussein explained that the Foundation is working on cultivating 877 plastic net houses and 1,100 dunums of open spaces for the production of elite seeds for the next year, as part of its plan for the national project for the production of potato seeds, where the areas intended for cultivation were inspected in preparation for contracting with farmers.
According to Hussein, 325 tons of elite potato seeds were distributed for planting the fall season for this season, and the Foundation currently has 190 tons of elite seeds ready for distribution for spring planting.
