The bloody deed of Illerkirchberg: not a case like any other

After the deadly knife attack on a schoolgirl in Illerkirchberg, there is disbelief.
Politicians must now face the shock of the people, because this is not a case like any other.

The country is stunned by an incomprehensible bloody deed: the life of a 14-year-old girl, wiped out in a few seconds by a knife attacker, who the authorities say has led a blameless life so far according to available knowledge - but who is still not a perpetrator like any other is.
The enormous unrest surrounding the terrible case provides clear indications of this: the Turkish ambassador, who rushes to the scene of the crime near the Bavarian-Württemberg border because of the victim's Turkish origin.
The murmuring and bubbling in the comment forums of the Internet.
Baden-Württemberg Prime Minister Kretschmann, who warns against prematurely constructing connections with refugee policy.
Deadly attack in Illerkirchberg: Politics must face the shock of the people
It is indeed right and important to await the further progress of the investigation.
Of course, the AfD will try to use the case politically.
However, this must be distinguished from the honest shock of the population, which politicians and all those who insist that this is a case like any other have to face.
Correct: Any homicide is horrific.
But understandably, people react even more emotionally and uncomprehendingly, even more disappointed, when a young life is taken by a refugee who asked for protection himself and was accepted by us, like the 27-year-old Eritrean who came in 2016 and became a perpetrator in Illerkirchberg.
For the government, it therefore remains a central task to ensure that integration succeeds.
An indispensable prerequisite for this is the control and also limitation of migration - if only to prevent traumatized migrants from being left to their own devices without care and thus becoming a danger.
Especially in Illerkirchberg, where refugees have made bad headlines before, they can sing a sad song about it.
