Adam F. and his wife with heart disease make ends meet every day.

Despite this, they have not lost their optimism.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

– You live in a small two-room apartment for rent and are just making ends meet.

Anna and Adam F. (name changed by the editors) have worked their whole lives: she as a hairdresser, he as an electrical engineer.

The two seniors are happy that the Tafel exists and that it supports them with groceries every week.

That makes everyday life a little easier.

Tight pension: working hours in Hungary are not counted

The childless couple comes from Hungary.

“I helped my parents and three sisters a lot there,” the 75-year-old looks back.

In 1972, the two decided to go to Germany - because of work.

Adam F. worked for large companies such as BMW and Siemens.

"I made good money," he says.

Nevertheless, the pension is not very high.

"The Hungarian time is not taken into account," explains the retired engineer.

The couple has to get by with a three-digit amount a month and has therefore given up things like a car for a long time.

It's good that Adam F. has an authorization card for the board.

He is grateful that he and his wife can provide food in this way.

"That helps a lot," he admits.

For the past three years, the senior has also been actively helping out with the food distribution.

"I'm a girl for everything," says the 75-year-old with a smile.

"I set up the tables and work with them." He stays until the end, until everything is settled.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen: Woman has to be hospitalized after a heart attack

He used to be a workaholic, says Adam F. about himself. Overtime or weekend work was never a problem.

"People could count on me." Now it's the board he's counting on.

He is worried about his wife's health.

She has had a heart condition for years and is therefore not very resilient.

The two of them share the household chores.

"She always has to rest for five minutes," says Adam F. The 75-year-old recently had a heart attack.

"She is now in the hospital and needs an operation." He himself is doing well, he says.

The knees would cause problems.

"But I'm not sick."

It's not nice that money is so tight now that you're retired, says the senior, who despite everything hasn't lost his optimism and smile.

"Somehow we'll get along.

We just have to survive.”
