The program for the 2023 river festival in Wolfratshausen has been set.

Tickets for the sixth edition are available now.

Wolfratshausen – From July 7th to 23rd, musicians, cabaret artists and other artists will be performing again at the old Floßlände under the motto “City in motion”.

Town hall chief Klaus Heilinglechner, Sepp Schwarzenbach, cultural affairs officer of the city council, and city manager Dr.

Stefan Werner presented the program on Friday morning in the town hall.

"There's a lot going on in our city in the coming year," Heilinglechner announced.

After the international rafters' day and the Johanni raft procession in May, the Opera Tent will be set up again in summer on the old raft landing.

The impressive backdrop is a trademark of what is now the sixth river festival in Wolfratshausen and offers seating for around 450 visitors.

Depending on requirements, this capacity can be expanded with standing room.

Heilinglechner was relieved that the Water Management Office recently approved the use of the floating river stage.

Due to flood events in 2021, this permit was on the brink.

At that time, the show by local hero Dominik Halamek had to be relocated to the neighboring courtyard of the blacksmith school at short notice.

Laith Al-Deen moved to the Loisachhalle.

"We will keep this venue available as an alternative location in the coming year," said Heilinglechner.

Of course, he would prefer the city not to have to resort to this option.

"It is a highlight for many artists to be able to perform on the river festival stage," says the mayor.

River Festival 2023: the program from July 7th to 23rd

With a colorful mix of styles from reggae, polka, hip-hop and waltz, the So&So band will open the river festival on July 7th.

This is followed by concerts by Raggabund (July 8th) and Dreiviertelbluts as well as a Sunday matinee by the music school (July 9th).

After cabaret performances by Franziska Wanninger (July 12) and Simon Pearce (July 13), local hero Dominik Halamek invites you to the "Summer Nights II" (July 14).

The guest performance of "Django 3000" (July 15), a morning pint with the town band and the film evening "In the fight with the mountains" (both July 16) accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra Isartal characterize the second river festival weekend.

Let's continue with the Tegernsee all-rounder Oimara (July 19), Mathias Kellner (July 20) and Martin Frank (July 21).

Culture consultant Sepp Schwarzenbach expects a lot from the "Jennerwein" performance of the Loisachtaler Bauernbühne, which includes the river and the surrounding area in the scenes (July 22nd).

The series of events will come to a close on July 23 with the “Family Fun Festival” organized by the children and youth development association.

Advance tickets

In the upcoming edition, the city deliberately does without international crowd pullers such as Rainhard Fendrich, who opened the festival in 2017.

"We don't want to compete with the Munich Olympiahalle here and prefer to rely on regional artists," said the head of the town hall.

As in previous years, the municipality relies on a team of volunteers to ensure that the river festival runs smoothly.

"Some even take vacation for this," reported Heilinglechner.

City of Wolfratshausen announces moderate entrance fees

Of course, visitors can get drinks and snacks on the festival site again.

Cultural manager Andreas Kutter takes up negotiations with caterers after his vacation, which is still ongoing.

He also attached importance to the fact that the entrance fees are also affordable for average earners and that they are far below the Munich level for the most part.

In addition, free matinees and a large family festival attract visitors to the eastern bank of the Loisach.
