The KKL-Junk Board of Directors today (Tuesday) approved the appointment of Yifat Ovadia Loski, a close associate of MK Danny Danon, to the position of KKL-Junk Chairman on a temporary basis.
This, despite attempts by senior Likud officials to prevent the move and stop the temporary appointment.
The Likud court discussed this morning the petition of MK Miki Zohar and MK Haim Katz, who claim that it is a kidnapping and a violation of internal Likud agreements, and demanded that the vote be stopped, but the Kekel board convened to vote even before the end of the hearing on the petition.
Danon, who serves as the chairman of the Likud World, the body that represents the Likud in the national institutions, holds the position of chairman of the KKL-Junk as a bargaining chip in the negotiations on the distribution of positions in the government and the Knesset.
The position of KKL-JV chairman was determined in the coalition agreements of the parties that are members of the World Zionist Congress, and at the previous congress, about two years ago, it was determined that the position would be divided in rotation between the representative of the Mizrahi faction, Avraham Dovdevani, who is expected to finish his position on January 1,

According to the agreements, Haim Katz was supposed to be the Likud candidate for the position, but Katz recalculated his course and decided that he would prefer to be appointed a minister in the government.
Danon, the chairman of the global Likud, decided in the first step to appoint one of his close associates, Yifat Ovadia Lusky, as temporary KKL-JV chairman.
Danon, who is demanding to be appointed the speaker of the Knesset, began to promote Lusky's appointment before the formation of the government, even though he knows Likud Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu is interested in appointing someone on his behalf to the position. Last week, two of Netanyahu's men, designated chief of staff Tzachi Braverman and political advisor Ikki Cohen, met with him and tried to convince him to release the position, but without success.

Yesterday, Miki Zohar and Haim Katz submitted a petition to the Likud tribunal demanding that it withdraw the candidacy of Ovadia Loski since it is a unilateral appointment and a violation of the coalition agreement in which the position was given to Katz.
At the same time, Zohar sent a letter to the members of the board in which he demanded that the vote be stopped until the matter of the agreed candidate is clarified.
Ovadia Loski is expected to be the first woman in the position of chairman of KKL-Junk.
She is 46 years old, has a master's degree with honors in educational administration and policy from Tel Aviv University and a bachelor's degree in Hebrew literature and history from the Hebrew University, heads the department of Hebrew and culture at the World Zionist Organization.
She previously served as the CEO of the World Likud for over four years and was the first woman in this position. Lusky held various positions in the public sector.
