Storks live in Bavaria: 35 occupied nests in Uehlfeld

Storks are generally widespread in the area, as shown on a map by the State Association for the Protection of Birds (LBV).

Numerous storks live in and around Nuremberg, just like in Upper Franconia.

In Uehlfeld (Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district), 35 occupied stork nests were counted in 2020, as reported by

nordbayern.de

at the time.

In general, storks are on the rise in Bavaria.

More than 1000 pairs were reported to the LBV 2022 - a record number.

Never since records began in 1900 have so many breeding storks been counted in Bavaria as this year, according to the July 2022 release.

Most of the new settlements were in western Bavaria and there often in already densely occupied areas such as Oettingen in the Swabian Ries and Uehlfeld in the Middle Franconian Aisch Valley.

But new nests have also been reported from eastern Bavaria, for example in Döfering in the district of Cham or in Straubing.
