The President of the European Commission claimed in a speech, since deleted, that “100,000 Ukrainian soldiers” had died since then.


A blunder that raised questions.

A video posted on Ursula von der Leyen's Twitter account on November 30 has cast doubt on the true toll of the war in Ukraine.

In question, a speech in which the President of the European Commission evokes “the 20,000 civilians and 100,000 dead soldiers” since the start of the conflict.

It has since been removed.
