Caroline Cayeux will not have long exercised her functions as Minister Delegate in charge of Territorial Communities to which she was appointed on July 4, the day after the legislative elections.

She thus joins the unenviable club of those who did not stay more than six months in government.

It is however very far from the record of brevity.

Under the Fifth Republic, they are 54 to have not exceeded six months in a given function.

The records for brevity are held by Léon Schwartzenberg (Mitterrand Presidency), Thomas Thévenoud (Holland Presidency) and Jean-Jacques Servan-Schreiber (Giscard President).

In May 1988, the famous oncologist was appointed Minister of Health, but he was dismissed nine days later by Michel Rocard for having advocated the legalization of cannabis.
