William's grandfather, shot to death at the age of 15 at the door of his house in Villaverde: "His mother had time to go down and watch him die"

According to the first investigations, the shots hit his neck and back.

The other wounded 21-year-old ran after the gunman and he responded with more shots that hit him in the abdomen.

If the murder is confirmed to be the result of fighting between gang members, this would be the fifth murder of gang members this year in Madrid.

Police sources point out that the victims could be related to members of the Trinitarians, although there is no record that there was any active member in that square.

His grandfather gets angry when it is suggested that William was involved in it.

"Maybe it was a test for the one who killed him to show his loyalty to his gang, or maybe my grandson refused to belong to one," he commented somewhat indignantly.

Since early in the morning of this rainy Monday, dozens of friends of the deceased and also relatives of relatives have gathered at the scene of the crime.

William was the youngest of three brothers.

His mother came to Spain from the Dominican Republic two decades ago and little by little the whole family began to arrive.

A story that is repeated in this Caribbean community, from which many Madrid families began to draw from the 2000s to work as housekeepers or to care for children.

His father works as a construction worker.

The older brother, Franklin, 27, lives in Madrid, and the middle one, in the United States.

William was born in Spain.

The boy's father and grandfather were just a couple of blocks away when the teenager was killed, and they too were on the scene within seconds.

A neighbor and family friend, Hailyn Reyes, has three children and one of them had just come home when the crime occurred.

"Two years ago, she bought a stuffed animal and some trinkets for Valentine's Day to give it to a girl and she was so embarrassed that she didn't dare and ended up giving it to my mother," the woman recalled.

Reyes shows WhatsApp videos of her daughter and her friends on her mobile in which William is seen dancing to rehearse for the 15th birthday party of one of the girls in the group.

William's massive afro hair stands out from the crowd of teenagers piling into the woman's salon in the video he shows on her screen.

In another of the recordings, the boy is seen combing a friend's hair with a dryer and a brush.

Many of these teenagers have stayed in the square where they normally meet to cry together and, in a way, pay homage to their friend.

"Don't let the candles go out," asked one of the attendees.

"I'm going to place the bouquet on the lamppost," commented another.

There was Elena, who prefers not to say her last name, still not assimilating that she will never see her confidant again.

“Last night I went through the square, I saw him dancing and smiling, I went to the Chinese and when I passed by again he was already on the ground with everyone around her.

They tried to revive him, but he no longer reacted, ”she says between sobs.

Another young woman approaches her to hug her and she asks herself, looking at the sky: "Who is going to ask me now how I am like he used to?"

Trying to hide her sadness behind a pair of sunglasses, another girl, William's best friend, calls for justice.

All deny having any idea who could have committed the crime, but many point out that he looked like a child, just like the fatality.

“I know that those who have done this are from gangs, that they look in Villaverde and San Cristóbal and they will find them.

Now we fear that this will continue and not end here.

He was a pure and light being and this is unfair, he was affectionate, incapable of hurting, ”she points out as she looks at the altar that her friends have improvised with candles and a couple of photos of the deceased.

At one end of the altar, her friends have written his name on dominoes.

Grandfather Ramón continues to answer his cell phone and receive the condolences of everyone who sees him.

“He and I were called Bonsa, it was something just ours.

One day he came to me and told me: 'I'm not going to call you grandfather anymore, it makes you old, from now on you'll be Bonsa', and I also started calling him that”, he recalls.

Ramón assures that his passion was sports, both soccer and basketball, and that he wanted to be an engineer.
