German security forces have arrested the former deputy in the German Bundestag for the Alternative for Germany party (Birgitte Malczak Wenkmann), in connection with the coup attempt that took place today.
The German newspaper Die Welt reported: “German security searched Wenkmann’s living quarters before arresting her.” The newspaper’s correspondents saw German special forces breaking into the gate of a country house in the Wannsee residential area in the capital, Berlin, and then arresting Wenkmann.
For its part, the German newspaper (Zeit) said: The list of suspects published by the German Public Prosecution Office actually includes the name of Birgit Malczak Wenkmann.
And the German police announced earlier today the implementation of a major security operation in 11 provinces, and the dismantling of a cell belonging to the (Reichs Citizens) movement that was planning to launch an attack on Parliament, according to its description.
Der Spiegel newspaper said, quoting security sources, as saying: “The special police operate simultaneously in 11 out of 16 German federal states, and by order of the Public Prosecution Office, 25 men and women who were either members of the movement or supported it were arrested.”
