A small step that led Alexia Barrier to the oceans.
Since 2005 and her participation in her first competition, the Mediterranean has completed no less than 18 transatlantic races.
She could have been satisfied with this course.
The sailor has added to her job as a long-distance skipper the presidency of her association, 4myplanet, created twelve years ago to protect the oceans.
“It all started in 2009 when I returned from a transatlantic race
,” says Alexia Barrier.
The boat had won and I was very proud to be the only woman on the crew.
But while I should have been happy, I was not: the inflation of the traces of pollution observed during the course had seized me.
She then realized that the sensors attached to a sailboat can fish out a large amount of information on the state of the marine environment.
