Not only the corona pandemic with its lockdowns has presented the bakers in the district with major problems, explained Obermeister Werner Nau from the bakers' guild at the autumn meeting.

The energy crisis is making the situation for the bakery trade even worse.

Fürstenfeldbruck – The mood among the bakers is down, says Nau.

Hardly anyone wants to volunteer in the associations anymore.

"You can see it with us: We are becoming less and less in the guild and at the meeting we bring together just enough people that we can just about elect a board of directors."

best job

Nau asked his colleagues to talk about the problems.

This year he already has the fourth price increase and the fourth wage increase behind him.

"We actually need another ten or twenty percent price increase." But you have to make sure that you stay afloat with prices and wages.

"What's the use of it if we say a thousand times that we have the best job in the world if nobody wants to do it."

District master craftsman Franz Höfelsauer praised the activities of the guild bakers and the team spirit.

Together you have to break new ground with energy costs and the lack of staff.

The number of trainees is declining.

There were no trade fairs or internships during the lockdown.

"While we still had 82 apprentices in 2020, this year there are only 65."

existential fear

The high energy and material costs, disrupting supply chains and inflation, as well as high personnel costs create existential fears.

In open protests and petitions, the guilds, state associations and chambers have repeatedly called on politicians not to leave them out in the rain.

Despite or perhaps because of the precarious situation, the leadership remains in good hands with Obermeister Werner Nau (Grunertshofen) and his deputy Uli Drexler (Jesenwang).

The bakers Martin Reicherzer (Bruck) and Maximilian Hünsche (Puchheim) were confirmed as further board members.

The members elected Thomas Bömmel (Olching) to replace Markus Graf (Moorenweis).

The next dates are the stollen test on December 7th and the bread test on February 10th.
