The Holzkirchner Winter Magic is getting bigger and "airier": 50 stands, two stages and two adventure tents will lure visitors to the town center on the coming Advent weekend (December 10th/11th).

For the first time, the booths meander around the town hall.

Holzkirchen

- The winter magic of Holzkirchen has never been so big and never so "airy": Around 50 stands and stalls invite you on Saturday and Sunday, 10./11.

December, for an Advent stroll and stroll in the town center.

The market square and the inner Münchner Straße, which will be transformed into a pedestrian zone again on both days, will be used.

The stands open at 11 a.m., on Saturdays until 9 p.m. and on Sundays until 7 p.m.

A new feature of what is now the 11th edition of Winter Magic is that Budenstrasse meanders around the town hall for the first time.

"This way, the stands can present themselves better and the visitors are not so overwhelmed," says Eva Schmitz from the location promotion in the town hall, which takes care of the organization with the culture in the Oberbräu.

The idea came about when Schmitz tried in 2020 and 2021 to set up a "winter magic light" despite Corona and to get more distance between the visitors.

Ultimately, the pandemic requirements proved to be too strict for the event to be held in both years.

However, the concept of including the Town Hall environment to expand the winter magic gets a chance.

"I'm excited to see how the new line-up is received," says Schmitz.

The snow bar, for example, moved behind the town hall.

The number of stands on the market square has been halved to eleven.

This leaves enough space for the iconic fairytale tent, in which "Frau Brausel" and "Captain Brummel" kidnap little visitors into magical stories.

The children's train makes its rounds in front of the town hall.

The "tinkering tent" in front of the library, which is being offered for the first time, should be the place to go for small and large craft enthusiasts;

Christmas decorations are made from LEDs there.

In the afternoon, choirs, alphorn players and Bavarian folk can be heard on the Marktplatz stage;

the TuS jazz dancers have also announced themselves.

The most beautiful stand will be awarded for the first time: the jury will select the winner on Saturday at 6:20 p.m.

"We had a lot of inquiries from stand operators from all over the region," reports Schmitz.

The range of offers is correspondingly wide and leaves hardly anything to be desired when it comes to culinary delights.

The world of stalls, which extends not only around the town hall, but also along the car-free "promenade" to Oskar-von-Miller-Platz, is supplemented by retail offers, which are open until 8 p.m. on Saturdays.

On a second stage at Oskar-von-Miller-Platz, the live music is a bit more modern and groovy.

On Saturday afternoon, stilt walkers are announced.

Inner Münchner Straße between the Marktplatz traffic light and Oskar-von-Miller Platz is closed to cars from Saturday (9 a.m.) to Sunday evening (9 p.m.);

this also applies to the street in front of the town hall and parts of Marienstrasse.

The Green Market takes place on Saturday in the Herdergarten car park.

Because of the crowds to be expected, Schmitz recommends that all Winter Magic visitors use the train and bus.

The hoki on-demand bus can also be booked on Saturday.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Holzkirchen newsletter.
