The director general of the ministry Prof. Nachman Ash announced that it was decided to reduce the amount of fertilization treatments at the hospital by 50%, from 10,000 to 5,000 per year. This is an event with systemic consequences, and we will have to draw systemic lessons."
Prof. Ash said that he decided to reduce the department and not to close it completely, despite the criticism.
"An easy decision could have been made to close, but it would have hurt the patients, and we think it's wrong."
According to him, the office has yet to find out how the malfunction happened, and that after ruling out the first potential couple as the parents of the baby girl, "it was decided to stop the search this way".
The Director General of the Ministry of Health emphasized that when the deficiencies are corrected, Basuta will receive permission to return to full activity.
