China announced on Wednesday December 7 a general relaxation of health rules against Covid, authorizing certain positive cases to carry out their quarantine at home and reducing its use of generalized large-scale PCR tests.
This announcement comes after unprecedented strong mobilizations across the country against China's "Zero-Covid" health policy.
According to the new instructions unveiled by the National Health Commission (NHC) - which has the value of a ministry -, "
asymptomatic infected people and mild cases who can be isolated at home will generally be isolated
" and the country will "
further reduce the scope of nucleic acid testing and reduce its frequency
".
